Thoughtful, skilled support for children under 9 and their families
Some children need more than general developmental support. They may require a higher level of adult support across communication, regulation, movement, play, self-care, safety and daily routines.
At MoveAbout, we support children under 9 with complex developmental needs who require thoughtful, skilled and consistent support across everyday life. This may include children with neurodevelopmental, genetic, chromosomal, intellectual, physical, sensory-motor or communication differences. Your child may already have a diagnosis, be undergoing assessment, or simply need a team who can understand the bigger picture and support them safely.
We understand that families are often carrying a lot. You may have had to explain your child’s needs many times, manage safety concerns, or worry that other settings do not fully understand your child. Our role is to provide calm, respectful and practical support that helps children and families feel safer, more understood and more supported.

We may be able to help if your child:
- Needs a high level of adult support in daily life
- Experiences distress, shutdowns, sensory overload or dysregulation
- Has communication differences and needs adults to interpret their cues
- Needs support with play, interaction and shared engagement
- Has movement, motor planning or body awareness challenges
- Needs help with feeding, toileting, dressing or daily routines
- Has safety needs requiring close supervision
- Finds childcare, preschool, school or community settings overwhelming
How MoveAbout can help
Therapy may include:
- Occupational therapy assessment
- Regulation-focused therapy sessions
- Play-based developmental support
- Sensory-motor and movement-based activities
- Support for motor planning, coordination and body awareness

Our clinic spaces support children who need movement, sensory input, co-regulation and carefully graded challenge. Sessions are adapted to each child’s communication, regulation, motor and sensory needs.
What progress can look like
Progress is not always quick or linear. We value small, meaningful changes that improve safety, comfort, connection and participation.
Progress may look like:
- Feeling more comfortable in the therapy space
- Reduced distress during transitions or routines
- More shared attention or engagement
- Improved tolerance of sensory experiences
- Communicating needs more clearly
- Small steps toward independence in self-care or play
- Families feeling more confident
- Educators better understanding what helps the child participate

What makes MoveAbout different
Children with complex developmental needs require more than a standard therapy approach. They need support that is flexible, thoughtful and responsive to their whole developmental profile.
At MoveAbout, we take the time to understand what each child needs to feel safe, connected and ready to participate. We consider their regulation, sensory needs, movement, communication, environment and relationships, rather than focusing on skills in isolation.
Our approach is play-based, developmental and family-centred. We work alongside parents, caregivers, educators and other professionals so children are supported consistently across the everyday places and routines that matter most.
