MoveAbout has a three-step process for getting your child assessed.
Pre-Assessment Interview
In-Clinic Assessment
Post assessment Meeting
Pre-assessment interview
When you call our clinic for the first time, our admin team will book you in for an online interview and an in-clinic assessment. We will also ask you to complete a few online questionnaires to help us get to know your child better. We ask that you have these completed before your first appointment.
The online parent interview is conducted via Zoom and typically goes for 30-45 minutes. Your therapist will use this time to understand you and your child’s needs.
In-clinic assessment
Your child will have their in-clinic assessment within the following week. Depending on your child’s age, they may play with toys, complete table-top assessments and movement-based assessments, and also have a chance to explore the sensory-motor room. Your therapist will be observing and assessing your child while they move and play, to better understand what might be impacting your child’s ability to go about their day. Your child should wear comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes for the assessment.
Post-assessment parent meeting
After the in-clinic assessment is finished, your therapist will book an online parent meeting. This will go for an hour and is an opportunity for you to go through the report with your therapist and ask any questions you may have. During the meeting, your therapist will also discuss how therapy is approached at MoveAbout, and their recommendations with you, whether it’s weekly or intensive therapy options, or other approaches and tools that might be useful, including referrals to other services. This process also provides really helpful information to share with other caregivers, teachers and health professionals.
